Wilmington Housing Authority

Providing quality affordable housing

We began worked with the Wilmington Housing Authority  during a time of significant crisis. In the aftermath of Hurricane Florence, many of WHA’s properties suffered mold damage. During this time, the WHA worked tirelessly to temporarily relocate residents and rehabilitate affected housing.

The remediation process was lengthy, with residents being dislocated for the better part of year. As a result, the local media started to question the process, and the organization’s small staff suddenly had to assume public relations responsibilities and work to restore trust in the community.

WHA needed a site that reflected their commitment to their residents and the quality of the properties in their portfolio. We worked with the organization to transform their original 2009 site to a robust site. This complete overhaul allows the organization to meet the needs of multiple constituents: WHA residents, applicants, staff, and vendors, as well as the local media.

We designed the site in collaboration with John Bentz of John Bentz Consulting, who provided his discovery and copywriting expertise, and Barry Tonoff of altrevolution, who brought the site to life with expert development and training for in-house maintenance.
